Emma Kerrigan | Manager

Toby Hunt | Assistant Manager

Emma is a Music finalist and is delighted to be returning for her third year of singing with the Chamber Choir, serving her second year as Manager.

During her time at Durham, she has been involved in a wide range of choral activities, including singing with the Phoenix Consort, with whom she has recorded two albums, alongside a further album with University College, where she has held a Choral Scholarship.

Beyond the University, Emma has sung with the choirs of Bath Abbey while at home and has performed in broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. She is also a prizewinner at the Mid Somerset Festival, having won classes for both vocal and instrumental performance.

She looks forward to welcoming this year’s new cohort of singers and to seeing what the ensemble will achieve in the year ahead.

Toby is a 4th year languages student, specialising in French and Italian studies, and returns to the role of Assistant Manager after his Year Abroad.

Toby began singing at a young age, having been a Chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral. Since arriving in Durham, he has performed with a number of choirs in and around Durham, including the Chamber Choir, University College Chapel Choir, Phoenix Consort, and as a soloist for Durham University Choral Society and Classical Ensemble.

More recently, Toby has been a member of the Académie du Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris and a Staff Singer at the American Cathedral in Paris. This year he has been appointed as a Junior Lay Clerk at Newcastle Cathedral, where he previously held a Choral Scholarship.

Toby is particularly looking forward to organising the choir’s annual international tour.

He also held the position of Senior Associate Conductor of Durham University Choral Society under John Forsyth MBE, conducting the choir on international tours to Slovenia and Hungary as well as in Durham Cathedral. In his final year, he also continues his work as a singer, having been appointed as a Choral Scholar at Durham Cathedral.
